Telenor accused of violating Swedish security law – Dagsavisen

In the 20-page report, which was largely defamatory, PTS concluded that Telenor did not meet legal requirements to protect Sweden’s national security, wrote Newspaper.

Telenor, which is one of Sweden’s largest mobile operators, is accused of violating Swedish security laws.

– It’s about breaching security controls. How exactly and in what way, I won’t go into detail, PTS director Henrik Christiansson told the paper.

In a letter to Telenor, dated October 4, Christiansson wrote that Telenor had ignored statutory requirements, and pointed to certain areas under which a person participating in security sensitive activities must undergo security screening.

PTS is now considering whether to impose a penalty fee on the Norwegian telecommunications giant. How much this fee is is unknown, but regulations give private universities the opportunity to charge up to SEK 50 million from private companies that do not follow safety laws.

– It is not true that Telenor committed a breach that jeopardized the security of Sweden. The truth is we have a dialogue with PTS. “This is not about the quality of our security work, but about the formality errors we have corrected,” Telenor wrote in a written response to the paper.

– Critical personnel have gone through the necessary checks, but do not fully comply with all the steps required by law. Now fixed, the company further wrote.
