Students at Vysočina perform well in many disciplines. A few days ago, they shone in the national round of the Trophée Mille ČR competition for high school cooks. The first place was won by Eliška Havlíková and Tomáš Petera, who are students of the Adolph Kolping High School of Gastronomy in Židár. Teacher Petr Chalupa supervises them professionally. Eliška and Tomáš are cooked from Vysočin regional ingredients.

The jury for the fourth year of this prestigious competition consisted of five Czech professional chefs and pastry chefs.

The Žďár school students impressed the judges with reindeer loin with chestnut sauce and grandmother’s jam bread.

Winning gold in this competition was the first for this high school. “I am happy that, like the previous two years, students from the Vysočin school succeeded. In short, the region’s gastronomic field has a lot to offer, and I am sure that Eliška and Tomáš will hold their own even at the world finals in Reims.” highlighted by the Vysočina Region councilor for education Jan Bříždala.

The winners took home two awards, the Philippe Mille traveling trophy and the competition’s top prize – a glass award from the Valner Glass factory in Pribyslav cut into a white chef’s hat, which was partly filled with saffron flowers.

Similar but smaller trophies were also awarded to the teams in second and third place. Věra Schusterová and Martin Havlíček from Havlíčkův Brod Business Academy and Hotel School put in the second best performance according to the jury led by chef Jihlava Pavle Mareš. Third place went to Alžběta Součková and Erik Mareš from the Business Academy, Secondary Medical School and Secondary Service Vocational School in Jihlava.
