Ukrainian wheat imports to Poland. Minister: pressure is over the limit

Authorities in Kiev announced that if the grain import ban is maintained, Ukraine will file a lawsuit against Poland and the European Union with the World Trade Organization (WTO). Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk assessed that “this is one of the next elements of pressure on the Ukrainian side.”

— These elements sometimes go beyond the framework of classical Ukrainian diplomacy. (…) It uses pressure measures, sometimes very non-standard and exceeding certain limits – emphasized the Minister of EU Affairs in an interview with RMF FM.

“Pressure does not impress the Polish government”

The politician stressed that the government’s priority is to protect Polish agriculture. – Such gestures or threats do not impress us, they are just elements of pressure, but such pressure will not be effective – he said in an interview.

Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk added that, according to the government’s position, Ukraine’s wheat import ban would not be lifted after September 15, and Poland had “a strong argument”. — Due to the lack of action at EU level, it is sometimes necessary to take action at national level. “We are fighting for decisions to be made at EU level,” he said.
