– Genocide

Israeli military leaders announced on Sunday that they had expanded the war to “all areas” of Gaza, including the southern part of the strip, where 1.8 million war refugees have sought refuge.

Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad on Tuesday accused Israeli forces of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, and said that it could not be legitimized by showing self-defense.

– Self-defense does not apply when it comes to occupation, according to international law, and this does not make the crimes of genocide committed by Israel illegitimate, he said.

The Emir believes that Israeli forces have violated religious, ethical and humanitarian values, and also said that Israel has committed crimes against humanity.

He also asked the UN to force Israel to return to the negotiating table with Hamas, wrote Reuters.

It was Qatar that led negotiations on a temporary ceasefire and prisoner exchange that collapsed on Friday. Al-Thani believes that a temporary ceasefire is not an alternative to a full ceasefire, and believes that Israel must understand that “the period of occupation is over.”

– It is shameful that the international community allowed these heinous activities to continue for almost two months, resulting in innocent civilians, including women and children, being systematically murdered, the emir said.
