WFOŚiGW solemnly concludes another year of activity. “The Fund has become a recognizable brand”

The Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk concludes its year of activity. It was emphasized that in addition to standard activities in 2022, it was decided to go beyond the walls of the office. The driving force here is the above-standard activity aimed at Pomeranians and tourists who spend their free time with us.

The guest of the event was Marcin Horała, Deputy Minister of Regional Funds and Policy. – The voivodship fund has turned from an institution that has so far been associated only with its name, into a recognizable brand that works very well for all Poles, for which I would like to thank you very much – he emphasized in his speech .

ANSWERS TO MODERN CHALLENGES

The best known campaigns are “Eco Transport” and “Eco Tourist”. During the ceremony, the fund’s representatives emphasized that their goal was not page views, but actual changes in habits and behavior, for example by promoting rail transport.

– At the moment, in terms of the number of passengers using the railway per the number of residents of the voivodeship, we are in first place. WFOŚiGW has a significant contribution here, but solutions and opportunities for cooperation with various agencies are also sought – Dariusz Drelich, Voivode Pomeranian, added that in addition to the widely understood day-to-day tasks related to environmental protection, the fund performs many tasks that go beyond its limits . basic competencies.

– I hope you next year will be better, also financially, but it means more work. However, everything you do is a response to the challenges of our time, he explained.

THANK YOU NOT JUST FOR THE EQUIPMENT

One important element was the cooperation with the Pomeranian unit of the Volunteer Fire Brigade, for which one million zloty was allocated. – I just have to thank you for supporting our idea, which we successfully implemented together. We want to thank you for the fire truck, but this thank you not only for the equipment, but also for including us in a program that speaks of safety that is widely understood – emphasized Brigadier Super Piotr Socha, Pomeranian fire chief.

The Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management carries out activities for safety in collaboration with ecological organizations and institutions established to protect nature, and even with the Second World War Museum. We must also remember about the air quality improvement activities, especially in rural areas, which resulted in a subsidy of PLN 223 million paid for the liquidation of cinderella, of which more than 14,000 were lost. These are just a few examples of how many programs will be implemented in various places in 2022.

– Our successes make me proud, but I am also proud of my colleagues, i.e. the people who carry out the “Elektromobilni” program, reducing carbon dioxide emissions during travel, as well as the changes we are introducing in Poland, in our environment. We have successfully started the “Warm Flats” program, where we signed nine contracts, and 23 contracts are due to be signed soon. There are also programs “Brodziec – adaptation to climate change” for universities and “Sunny Roofs”. With our help, two agricultural biogas plants were also built – said Szymon Gajda, head of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk.

THE FUND HAS BEEN OPERATIONING FOR 30 YEARS

In order for the fund to become a more friendly and recognized institution, an environmental protection week has been planned for next year, which will be a kind of summary of 30 years of activities.

During the ceremony, the “Green Sails of Pomerania” award was also presented to ministers Anna Moscow and Marcin Horała, Voivode Pomeranian Dariusz Drelich and Michał Majewski, mayor of Kościerzyna. Employees of the Voivodship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management are also respected, who contribute primarily to the fund’s high returns through their work, but also ensure the most effective customer service, which is reflected, for example, in the record number of grants awarded.
