“You are afraid of war, but it has already begun.” Johnson gets scalded by activist speech

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had to deal with the unusually emotional question of a Ukrainian activist at a news conference in Warsaw. The young woman told him, among other things, that there was still a no-fly zone over Ukraine and that civilians would have to face devastating air strikes.

“You’re afraid of World War III, but it’s already started,” he insisted. “I didn’t see you confiscate the European mansions belonging to Putin or Abramovich. Ukrainian children being bombed,” he continued with tears in his eyes. Johnson stood as if scalded, looking down at the ground. The incident was immediately noticed by people around the world and the clip quickly spread on social networks.

In response, the British Prime Minister acknowledged that his country could not fulfill the woman’s request. After meeting the Polish prime minister, he earlier said Britain was ready to further tighten sanctions on Russia and would do everything in its power to help Ukraine.

Establishing a no-fly zone and maintaining it de facto means a military clash between Russian and NATO aircraft. “At present, attempts to establish a no-fly zone would mean a practical military clash between NATO and Russia, with everything that comes with it – that is, above all, the risk of further escalation, in the worst case, even to a nuclear level,” a Czech expert told the Respekt website on nuclear weapons Michal Smetana.
