The young man admitted on social networks that he did a DNA test with his friends for fun. He laughed when the results came out. He discovers that he has slightly different origins than the rest of the family. When he tried to discuss the topic with his parents, his mother quickly changed the subject.
The unexpected discovery was made by a 19 year old young man from France. On the social network Reddit, he shared his story with other users and asked for advice on how to move forward. “Recently, when I moved away from my parents, my friends had the great idea of doing a DNA test. I told them that my test results would not be interesting because both my parents are European,” the boy said in contribution.
But at that moment, an unexpected problem occurred. Based on the test results, the young man is half European and half Asian. “I’m absolutely sure no one in my family is from there. I know my grandparents very well,” he added.
Worried that the boy’s mother had cheated on him years ago, the young Frenchman tried to bring up the topic in conversations with his parents. “While my dad laughed and said I should try it, my mom was quiet at first and changed the topic after a while. She sent me a message after the call. She basically scolded me for worrying about such stupid things and not concentrating on my studies.” he admitted.
“I really don’t know what to think. He never sent me messages like that and we were always close, we didn’t fight much. I felt like he was hiding something,” added the boy. Her mother’s behavior upset her so much that she couldn’t think about the test results. “Otherwise, I would forget the test results and think it was a mistake,” he explained.
