Here’s the world’s biggest Christmas jam – NRK Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

It was Benny Westman who had the crazy idea to make the world’s largest Christmas jam. Benny is the chef at Maihaugen and is passionate about preserving food culture.

– I want us to use traditional foods and spend time preparing the food. That’s why we make these pickles, says the chef.

The Christmas jam measures three meters long and one and a half meters wide. The height is approx. 11 centimeters. The pickles are handmade, but you won’t find any meat from the pig’s head in these pickles. That was too demanding and they used ribs and veal instead, Benny Westman said.

Police and lawyers were involved in the deliberations

It took almost a week to make the world’s largest Christmas jam. Last Saturday the meat was cooked, on Monday it was pressed and today it is ready to be weighed and tasted.

So that everything runs smoothly, today both police and lawyers were present at the weigh-in. The target is 500 kilograms.

Watch the video at the top of the article and see if they achieve this goal!

However, it is a record, because there is still no Christmas jam in the Guinness Book of Records. The requirement was that it had to be 18 times larger than regular jam, and Westman was confident they could do it.

After the pickles are weighed, there is a tasting for everyone present.
