Karl-Petter Løken will be general secretary of the Norwegian Football Association

This was conveyed by the association in a press release.

Løken came from a job as investment director at Aker Horizons. As a footballer, he played 36 international matches, and he was a central part of Rosenborg’s successful team in the 1990s.

– With Karl-Petter Løken, we get a general secretary with very solid experience as both a footballer and a leader. We are thrilled that Karl-Petter will be our next general secretary, and because of that he is taking a step back into the football arena completely. “We have gone through an extensive and thorough recruitment process and firmly believe that we have made a good choice here,” said president of football Lise Klaveness.

Business shutdown

Løken studied education as a civil engineer in addition to his football career at Rosenborg. He had worked for Lundin, Statoil and Norsk Hydro and was an expert commentator for NRK for many years before he became CEO of Kværner ASA in 2018.

Now Løken is looking forward to taking on a new assignment in the NFF.

– Fun time

– Football has meant a lot to me throughout my life, and I want to say that I have a passionate relationship with it. I have had many experiences both from children’s football, from playing in top and national teams, and as a football father to my own children. During nearly 20 years as an expert commentator at NRK, I also know women’s football well, both nationally and internationally, says Løken and continues:

– Norwegian football is in its prime. I look forward to using my leadership experience to build an even stronger organization. Now I can’t wait to get started.

It is not clear when he will take up his new position.
