There was great atmosphere during Saturday’s Scandinavian finals in the FIRST LEGO League, the world’s largest science and technology competition, as more than 600 children and young people competed to find the most creative solutions to the energy challenges of tomorrow.

The FIRST Scandinavia behind the competition, which with the support of the heroes of Equinor Tomorrow is working to increase young people’s interest in technology and science to become the engineers and scientists of tomorrow.

Team Ørneklo from Fygle School were representatives of Lofoten and they were praised for their phenomenal efforts by the judges and organizers.

– The Ørneklo team from Fygle School really impressed us with their creative solutions and strong competitive spirit. Our motto is you learn while you play – and all the teams have clearly shown that to us here today. We hope Team Ørneklo and others will continue to be curious about technology and science in the future. Scandinavia relies on wise minds to tackle tomorrow’s challenges, said Thea Moen, who is the sponsors manager for heroes Equinor Tomorrow in a press release.

– In this year’s Scandinavian finals, we have seen a lot of interesting projects exploring future energy solutions. It is precisely Fygle students and other young people with creativity and energy that we need in the future, said Stian Elstad, general manager of FIRST Scandinavia.

Even though today’s tough competition did not end with the flag reaching the top for the Leknes team, the young team was able to smile broadly with cheers, applause and cheers from the judges, organizers and spectators. The world’s largest science and technology competition for children and young people aged 4–16. The FIRST LEGO League event is organized by FIRST Scandinavia and supported by the talent development program Morgendagens helter, where Equinor supports talent in science, culture and sports. The aim of this event is to increase the interest of the younger generation in science, technology and science, and to stimulate the current young generation to become the engineers and scientists of the future.
