Norwegian music festival hits Tinder: – Finally found the tune

For the first time in three years, the stage was set for the festival again. Palmesus has as the only Norwegian festival found along with the check app Tinder.

– We first made a «move». There was already a direct dialogue between us and their headquarters in LA, and gradually we found the tone, said Ketil Børstein StensrudCMO and Palmesus.

Tinder partners with the world’s biggest festivals in ten different countries. The app introduces “Festival Mode”, a feature designed to help members find their new festival crew as they prepare for the first festival season since 2019.

– Music is a universal language and the biggest interest among Tinder members around the world. So many of our members are happy to return to physical events. “We wanted to build on that excitement, and offer them a great start to meeting new people ahead of one of the biggest festival seasons in years,” said Kyle Millerhead of product and innovation at Tinder.

Festival Mode will bridge the gap between online introductions and IRL connections by letting Tinder members find other festival attendees before the show starts. In other words, festival mode will help music lovers break the ice and connect based on common interests.

– Festival mode gives you a chance to go out again, meet new people and make friends before you head to the festival area. It’s a great way to reconnect with the real world, Miller said.

– We think that after almost three years, people are starving to get out into the open. People want to meet like-minded people, listen to music, enjoy festival experiences, and go out into the meadows to meet new people. So it’s absolutely perfect to announce a festival mode that lets you track people going to Palmesus, says Børstein Stensrud.

Norwegian festival only
Festival mode will roll out to Tinder members globally on Explore over the coming weeks. Palmesus is the only Norwegian festival where the Tinder Festival mode will be available. However, this mode will be available at the festival in several other European countries as well as Australia and the United States.

– It’s great when a Norwegian player gets one of the big global giants in the team. This joins the ranks of some good news, says Børstein Sensrud.

Other major sponsors on the Palmesus list include Red Bull, Visa, VG and Samsung. Palmesus is also one of the biggest festivals in Norway and expects 60,000 guests this year. The festival takes place at Bystranda in Kristiansand.
