PFL: Marcin Arrested “on target”. Now is the time to change employers – News

One million dollars for the champion

It’s been a very exciting weekend in Polish MMA. And this despite the fact that there are no Whites and Reds fighting in the UFC. In one night there will be three galas by Vistula – KSW, FEN and Army Fight Night, and in the United States Marcin Held fights in his third and possibly farewell fight in the Professional Fighters League.

The Pole made an outstanding debut in this organization when in April 2021 he defeated the two-time champion – Natan Schulte by decision. At this point, it is appropriate to mention the unusual rules that apply in the PFL. There are 10 players in each season. They fought two fights in the main round. Winning by decision is awarded with three points, while winning early gives from four to six points, depending on the round in which it occurred. Of course the highest rating is the end of the duel in the first installment. Based on the assessment, after two fights, the best four participants entered the semifinals. The winner of the entire season receives an additional bonus of one million dollars.

Where will Held end up?

Nathan Schulte, whom Marcin Held faced again on Friday and Saturday nights, is therefore already a multimillionaire after winning the PFL championship twice. Poland’s maiden win was a resounding success and nothing less than a surprise. The rematch, however, did not go the way our representatives wished. The Brazilian was the attacking side from the start and was won by a unanimous decision from the judges – 2x 30-27 and 29:28, meaning that two judges signed all three rounds on Schulte’s side, one giving him a 2-to-1 win.

For Held, it might be the organization’s final battle. After losing, there is no chance to win the grand prize. In the past, he has fought in the UFC and ACA, among others, and at Bellator he even earned challenger status for the lightweight championship belt. Hence, it is a well-known and acclaimed brand in the MMA world and he will definitely not complain about the lack of offerings. It’s no secret that the climb on Held prior to his transition to the PFL was done among others by the native KSW, but was unable to financially beat America’s bid. At the moment, at least officially, it’s unknown where Marcin will go, but all signs in the sky and on earth suggest that her adventures with the PFL are just ending.
