Refugees should gradually start reporting how they will pay for their health insurance | Company | News

Adult refugees from Ukraine should start gradually reporting to health insurance companies starting next week how they will pay for their health insurance. After 150 days have passed since obtaining a visa for protection, the state stops paying the levy for them. People can use web forms or notify changes at their insurance company branch. In a joint press release, the Ministry of Health and Manpower, the Association of Health Insurance Companies and General Health Insurance Companies (VZP) announced this today.

Refugees from Ukraine with visa protection also obtain health insurance. The state pays them. The rules are changed by amendments to the law “lex Ukraine”. It stipulates that after 150 days of being granted coverage, adults will pay for their own insurance. The state will continue to send it only to students under the age of 26, people of retirement age, parents who are on leave, or to unemployed people registered with the employment office who are looking for work. “Those who do not meet any of these requirements must pay for their own health insurance,” he said in a press release. He warned that a change in practice would occur after July 24, when 150 days had passed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to the Minister of Manpower Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL), change should motivate incoming adults to start working. A few days ago, the minister said that 92,000 people on protection visas had found work. For Ukrainian employees, the employer sends a contribution from income. According to the press release, this also applies to work performance agreements with a monthly income of more than 10,000 crowns and to work activity agreements with an income of more than 3,500 crowns.

The invasion began on February 24. Since then, the Czechs have issued 398,200 visas for protection. As many as 61 percent of them are accepted by people between the ages of 18 and 65 years. When converted, there are about 244 thousand of them. Nearly three-quarters of adults are women. Four percent of visas are obtained by people over the age of 65 and 35 percent by children. 369,200 refugees were reported to foreign police.

“The responsibility for paying health insurance is transferred from the state to the insured individual after 150 days from the provision of temporary coverage. It is important that no person is in unnecessary debt that could cause them problems in the future.” said the Minister of Health Vlastimil Valek (UP 09). According to him, you can call 1221 or the health insurance company’s line if you have questions.

Most refugees are registered with VZP. It has a form on the website www.pomocukrajine.vzp.cz which makes it possible to report changes to insurance payments online. Information about who is affected by changes in the rules and what documents must be submitted for possible continuation of state insurance is in Ukraine. Those who are interested can also find it on the website www.nasiukrajinci.cz.
