The first image from the Norwegian technology telescope is ready

The first image from the Euclid space telescope shows a galactic nebula that resembles a horse’s head, a distant galaxy that has never been seen before and may be dark matter.

The head of the European Space Agency (ESA), Josef Aschbacher, said in a statement that Euclid’s first five images sparked awe.

– This reminds us how important it is to go to space to learn more about the mysteries of the universe, Aschbacher said.

The telescope was launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida in July. Researchers from the Department of Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Oslo and Clara Venture Labs in Bergen helped build the space telescope.

The image shows a galaxy called IC 342, taken by the European Euclid telescope in space.

This is the first space mission in history aimed at finding out more about dark matter and dark energy. Perhaps this will also provide answers to how the first galaxies in the universe formed.

This will be done by mapping a third of the sky – covering two billion galaxies – and then creating what is thought to be the most accurate 3D map of the universe.
