I firmly believe and believe that every reasonable Polish person, anyone who knows the history of Poland, the history of the Second World War and what happened after the Second World War, realizes that it is impossible for the victims of Germany’s greatest crime, the Republic of Poland, to be our citizens. .. We lost the most people in terms of our economic potential and population as a result of the killing of Germans, especially Germans. Therefore, it goes without saying that we must seek redress

– said Morawiecki in an interview for TVP3 Bydgoszcz,

The prime minister expressed confidence that the more Poles read the report, they would notice it.

First of all, its legal status needs to be clarified. No Polish reparations waiver, no redress waiver. It was a Soviet agent, then Polish leader Bolesław Bierut, who claimed that there were several Council of Ministers resolutions. Although it is not found anywhere, it is not found in UN documents. First of all, if there is a resolution that is going to have force in public international law, it must exist. It doesn’t exist and you should clarify it at the beginning

– denied the head of government.

Morawiecki stressed that he could not imagine that Poland could hand over reparations after what was presented in the report, calculated in a very conservative manner and with the support of a large team of researchers, scientists, analysts, specialists in various fields.

The Prime Minister pointed out that in order for our relations with Germany to be exemplary and excellent, we need compensation, because without it, a giant injustice will always hang in the air between the countries of Poland and Germany.

The prime minister also answered the question of what would happen next in light of the published report on the losses inflicted by Poland.

We will send a diplomatic note to Germany. We will invite them to the negotiation process. We will pursue this in all possible forums, all possible paths. In the coming months, quarters and years, we will also publish the entire report and everything in there very strongly

– he announced.

Polish family tragedy

The prime minister stressed that “we are talking about millions of people, billions of losses. Behind every casualty, behind every missing person – here in Bydgoszcz and throughout Poland – there is a personal drama, an individual family tragedy. And let us also remember that these are not statistics, these are not just numbers, this is a human tragedy”.

On Thursday, at the Royal Palace in Warsaw, a report on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II was presented. It was reported that Poland’s total loss was PLN 6 trillion 220 billion 609 million, which amounted to USD 1 trillion 532 billion 170 million.
