During Tuesday’s press conference, the government spokesman asked, among other things, when – in his opinion – Germany would pay Poland war reparations.

Germany will pay war reparations – because you are talking, as I understand it, about the actions that Germany itself will take – (…) when they really understand that the actions taken after the war in no way compensate for all this damage

replied Muller.

He added that it involved civilian casualties, humanitarian tragedies, as well as the destruction of infrastructure and construction.

Müller noted that “during talks with representatives of the German side, he saw that this topic was very troublesome”.

They are well aware that both ethically and legally this topic has not been closed. And this is the position of the Polish government

– he shows.

Head of PiS on reparations from Germany

A few days ago, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński – during a meeting with residents of Kórnik (Province of Greater Poland) – touched on, among other things, the topic of reparations from Germany for war damage during World War II.

Unfortunately, the Germans had little to learn from what World War II brought them. (…) They draw no conclusions other than purely political, because they draw them. However, they do not draw any moral conclusions. This is a compensation issue against Poland

– said the head of PiS at the time.

He added that Germany paid compensation to 70 countries under the 1952 treaty.

Most of these countries were countries that declared war on them, but in that war there was not a single army or a small group of them. In fact, we were not paid anything, even though extraordinary crimes were committed here

– he shows.

As he points out, in Poland during World War II, about 200,000 people were killed in about 1,000 villages and towns. people, which is a small percentage of all crimes committed by Germans in Poland.

This is the dimension of these things. And the point here is to make Germans aware of it, because the average German definitely doesn’t know it. And to make Europe aware of it, because Europe doesn’t know it, the world doesn’t know it. September 1 will be the first volume of the report

— said Kaczynski.

Report of Polish losses during World War II

This is a report prepared by the Parliamentary Team for Estimates of Compensation Due to Poland from Germany for Damage Caused during World War II, which operated during the previous parliamentary term – from September 2017. The team led by PiS MP Arkadiusz Mularczyk prepared a report on Poland’s losses as a result of World War II and the amount of compensation for Poland from Germany.

Two weeks ago, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, when asked in Boronów ( Voląskie Voivodeship), reminded of the comprehensive report being prepared, which shows the scope of not only German war crimes during World War II, but also the damage inflicted. The head of government later said that the report had now been translated into several languages. Morawiecki noted that Poland was one of the countries that suffered the most from World War II, and received practically “footprint, minimal funds as compensation”.

It can barely even be called compensation

– assessing the prime minister.
