Not everyone has access to navigation warnings or messages from shore radios, and therefore the Norwegian Coastal Administration is now asking all seafarers to pay extra attention to drifting items.

It could be logs, boards or other objects that have drifted out to sea after the recent floods. This may cause an accident and create a dangerous situation.

– It gets dark in the late afternoon and then it’s difficult to see these objects, said Paul Willy Paulsen, manager of the maritime traffic center at Horten VTS.

If you’re going out on a dive boat in the next few days, the advice from the Coastal Administration is to be extra careful, adjust your pace and be vigilant.
