Carmaker NIO opens a development center in Berlin

It’s hard to sell cars all over the world and at the same time try to satisfy customers with very different needs. Not to mention that there are different rules and requirements in different regions. An important step forward is that NIO is now opening an Innovation Center in Berlin.

The company has publicly stated that the Berlin team will focus on developing technology specifically adapted to the needs of users in Europe. The new center will have teams for Digital Systems, Digital Development, Digital Cockpit, Autonomous Driver (AD) and Power. It will be responsible for developing new technologies, as well as discovering, testing and validating them in Europe.

With NIO smart systems and our new Innovation Center in Berlin, our premium electric cars will become even smarter, not only in Europe, but globally. With our new base in Berlin, NIO will attract the world’s best developers and software engineers to create future cars with first-class user experiences, said Hui Zhang, Vice President of NIO Europe.

Among the new functions that have been launched are Video-on-Demand, smart charging and NOMI feedback (the company’s voice assistant).

At launch on June 15, NIO unveiled two cars: the EL6 crossover SUV and the ET5 Touring station wagon. The two are a perfect match.
