Mississippi: – Longest ever

On August 26, an expletive was drawn on the Yazoo River in the US state of Mississippi.

The river is a tributary of the Mississippi River.

It was hunters Tanner White, Don Woods, Will Thomas and Joey Clark who together caught the record alligator after dark, wrote among others Miami Herald.

The discovery of this giant is now being discussed by a number of sites around the world.

Used seven hours

According to the state wildlife inspectorate, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the alligator measured 4.34 meters long, 167 centimeters abdominal circumference and weighed 364 kilograms.

Punished for this

This makes the alligator the longest serving alligator ever caught and legally registered in the state.

According to local newspapers Clarion Ledger the men spent seven hours – and a great deal of effort – catching the alligator. They lasted from about 9 pm until half past four in the morning.

– We were surprised at how wide his back is, and how big his head is. To be honest, it’s pretty unreal, says Don Woods.

On the official Facebook page of the Norwegian Wildlife Service, hunters are congratulated on a big catch.

“We tried to get him eight or nine times, but he always got away,” Woods told the newspaper.

Annual hunting season

In Mississippi, since 2005, alligator hunting between certain dates is legal. This year the hunting season starts on August 25th and will last until September 4th.

The previous record holder in 2017 was a crocodile that was 4.28 meters long and weighed 347.67 kilograms.

– We’ve finished our big hunt for this year. “I might even say I’m satisfied with my career after this,” said Woods Clarion Ledger.

Not considered endangered

based on The Big Lexicon of Norway (SNL) the alligator genus includes two species: one North American and one East Asian.

– The American alligator is widespread in the southeastern United States, especially in fresh water. They are the largest reptiles in America.

In addition, it is said not to be included in the endangered category because of its wide distribution area and large population. It can attack humans, and death sometimes occurs.

– Males are usually four to four and a half meters long, females just under three meters. There are unconfirmed reports of a six meter long male, wrote SNL.
