McDonalds at Nedre Slottsgate in Oslo opened in 1983. The first of its kind in Norway. 40 years later, the company owns a number of restaurants across the country.

But now it’s over for McDonalds restaurants.

The communications manager at McDonald’s Norway, Kristina Johansen, informed VG that the restaurant was unable to renew the lease. So, they see themselves being forced to close.

– We would like to continue operations at Nedre Slottsgate, but respect that the ranchers have a different vision for what to do going forward.

Johansen said that they now only have one goal going forward.

– This is to ensure that all employees can get a position in one of our other restaurants. We look forward to retaining all of our wonderful employees at Nedre Slottsgate at McFamily.

McDonalds has ambitions to open new restaurants in Oslo and across the country. According to Johansen, they are actively looking for new locations in Oslo and throughout Norway.

The restaurant at Nedre Slottsgate does not close until summer. The exact date has not been determined.
