The Meteorological Institute reports that it’s time to clean up the umbrellas in northern Norway.

– Good morning, Northern Norway! Now it’s time to clean the umbrella from dust. In the next few days, several low pressures will head north and finally provide a proper top-up with rains in the north, wrote the Meteorological Institute on Twitter / X.

The meteorologist on duty, Eirin Walstad Ristesund, confirmed that there would be rain in the northern part of the country for a week.

– In the north it’s been record heat in places and there’s been very little rain, so for northern Norway a wet week isn’t as bad news as it is in the south.

– Rainfall is very uneven this summer.

Rain is likely to peak on Thursday, followed by calmer weather.

In the north it has long been hot and dry. A total of 13 new heat records were set in Northern Norway last week.

With 27 days of summer, Tromsø, among others, broke old records from 2013 and 1960.

At the same time, southern Norway is expected to be warmer from Wednesday. The capital can expect sunshine and above 20 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, according to the report Pent. no.

According to Ristesund, this is due to the high pressure that is in the process of building over Norway.

– From Wednesday onwards it will start to dry out and there will be a long period of dry weather in southern Norway.

First a little rain

– Southern Norway is now receiving very little rain, to put it mildly, and probably won’t stop anytime soon, said Ristesund.

– Southern Norway will have a wet start to the week.

Meteorologists state that a heavy rain warning is being assessed as heavy rain has been reported in Mjøsa.

On Monday morning there was still a red flood warning from NVE for parts of Drammensvassdraget, while parts of Glomma and Mjøsa were orange.

Most of the rainfall still occurs in Western Norway, but Ristesund shows that this is an area that could last much longer.

Tuesday will also be a wet day south of Vestland and in Rogaland.
