Tourists find lizards in places where you definitely don’t want to meet them

Jason Kingsman, a British national, went to Thailand with his partner Chantima Chairisuk. They live in the city of Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok, and it is here that they meet an unwanted guest. “My girlfriend called me to say that something dirty was moving in the toilet. It seemed strange to me, but it never occurred to me that it was a lizard,” the tourist told the Daily Mail.

The animal almost swam out of the bowl and looked around the bathroom for a few minutes. “There were a lot of them living in the park but for the first time I saw one of them swimming out of the shower,” Kingsman added.

The couple assumed that the lizard was seeking refuge. “Someone outside was spraying insecticide. So I thought the monitor was trying to escape, so he hid in the toilet. In the end, he disappeared again without hurting anyone,” explained the tourists, adding that the lizard turned around and probably swam through the pipe into the canal. .

The bite is not fatal

The spotted monitor lizard is one of the most common monitor lizard species. Its size is not as big as the Komodo dragon, but it is said to be the longest. It lives near water, in big cities as well as in canals, and eats snakes, frogs, or leftover food that people throw away. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, he is not considered very aggressive, he usually does not pay attention to his surroundings if no one is bothering him.

However, it can strike a person if they feel threatened. The bite is not fatal, but very painful. Victims are also exposed to mild toxins or bacteria.
