The “horror ship” is leaving Norway soon

The largest warship ever built, USS “Gerald R. Ford”, was handed over to the US Navy in 2017.

The ship has left port in Norfolk, Virginia, and is said to have been in operational areas in Europe and Africa.

According to DN, his party is now on its way to carry out exercises in the Norwegian Sea and North Sea areas which will take place in the coming weeks.

This is to show its presence in Europe, and deter Putin, wrote DN.

– It is no coincidence that where an American aircraft carrier is located, the ships are always ready in case the Putin regime tries to provoke, wrote commentators on the newspaper, Sverre Strandhagen.

In September last year, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) and Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram (Sp) visited the carrier in Norfolk.

– The United States is our most important ally. America’s promise to support Norway and Europe in crises and wars is essential to our security. Norway and the United States have a close and longstanding defense cooperation and we are looking to develop it further, said Jonas Gahr Støre, after the visit.

The aircraft carrier is the first in the Gerald R. Ford class, of which ten ships are planned to be built by 2058, according to SNL. This ship will replace the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, after more than 50 years of service.
